Gloucester Times: A University of New Hampshire associate professor of history has been honored for his book on the history of the human impact on the ocean.

W. Jeffrey Bolster has written “The Mortal Sea: Fishing the Atlantic in the Age of Sail.”

While overfishing is often thought of as a contemporary problem, Bolster examines how fishermen were transforming the sea long before fishing became an industrial enterprise.
