A 21-pound, 32.5” tautog (blackfish) was landed on Saturday, November 24, by Captain Greg Nardiello, owner of the Ocean Eagle V out of Sheepshead Bay, Long Island.

If approved, the fish could become the new New York State record blackfish, the existing record being held by Yakov Elkin of Staten Island, who caught a 20-pound, 10-ounce fish in 2009.

The IGFA world-record tautog, incidentally, is 27 pounds and was caught off Virginia Beach.
