Goose Hummock Shop in Orleans reports that weakfish have been taken in Chatham, along with some other noteworthy catches.

Here’s the scoop:

We thought it might happen this way: In a 2-day period the fishing blew wide open this week.

According to our customers, blues have moved into Nantucket Sound and are being taken fairly regularly from Falmouth and Cotuit Beaches.

Stage Harbor, in Chatham, is producing a surprising number of decent-sized weakfish.

Schoolie stripers have moved in to just about all of the traditional early-season spots.

Legal-size bass are becoming plentiful in Cape Cod Bay, from Barnstable Harbor to South Sunken Meadow in Eastham.
