Four Rescued from Sinking Boat off Popham Beach, Maine

Four men were rescued off Popham Beach State Park in Maine on Tuesday afternoon, June 12, when their 20′ bowrider lost power and started taking on water near Pond Island, about a quarter-mile from shore, at the mouth of the Kennebec River.

The Coast Guard responded after receiving a distress call from the boaters at around 3:00 p.m. and responded with 3 boats.

Waves were 6′ to 7′, and were washing over the bow of the vessel by the time rescuers arrived.

No injuries or medical concerns were reported.
