The Hour: More than 100 volunteers from General Electric went to Sheffield Island Lighthouse last week to help rebuild the damaged pier and perform other maintenance tasks. The work added up to more than 600 volunteer hours donated to the Norwalk Seaport Association from GE Capital’s Real Estate Unit, which is based in Norwalk.

Tasks performed include: installing a waterline feed; repainting both interior and exterior lighthouse features; washing and staining 20 picnic tables; planting more than two dozen sea grass bushes, and replacing the island’s 120’ pier.
