Green Harbor Jetty Rebuild Could Solve Silting Issue
May 29, 2015
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Patriot Ledger reports that Marshfield, MA, Harbormaster Mike DiMeo is calling for the jetties bordering the Green Harbor inlet to be rebuilt. He says that the jetties are too low to effectively prevent sand from building up inside the channel, which calls for repeated dredging every 10 to 15 years. Additionally, the jetties are misaligned, leading to a “ricochet” effect of sand off the longer jetty and into the channel.
Green Harbor has more than 75 charter boats and 50 year-round commercial fishing boats.
