Gundalow Tours Offered on Piscataqua River
June 4, 2012

An article on Seacoast Online reports that the Gundalow Company of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is offering tours aboard its new gundalow, Piscataqua. Gundalow sailboats once connected upriver communities with Portsmouth by transporting bricks, hay, firewood, and other goods.
The Piscataqua has begun its inaugural season as a public sailing vessel, and will run 2-hour trips 3 times a day, Thursday to Monday, until October.
Thursday night Specialty Sails will include concerts and educational lecture series and guests are welcome to bring picnics aboard. The captain and 2 onboard educators will provide information about the natural and cultural history of the Piscataqua watershed region. Private charters and school group programs are available throughout the season.
