Hampton Beach Adds Marine Life Centers
July 14, 2013
Visitors to New Hampshire’s Hampton Beach have long been able to tan on the sand, play arcade games and work on their miniature golf skills. Now there’s a new reason to visit this well-known summer hot spot: to learn about marine life and the sea.
According to an article on SeacoastOnline.com, two new places in Hampton Beach offer visitors the opportunity to learn about the ocean. Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation recently opened up Blue Ocean Discovery Center in the retail space in the Seashell Complex, meanwhile, Explore the Ocean World, an educational program run by a marine biologist, just opened up a slightly larger space about a half-mile up the strip at 367 Ocean Blvd.
The goal of both organizations is the same: to offer a place where children and adults alike can learn more about the ocean creatures that live in and around the local beach. Both offer marine life tanks where visitors can gently interact with small sea creatures, as well as artifacts and interactive educational displays about maritime history.
