Hampton Harbor Boaters Concerned By Shoaling, Bridge Failure
November 30, 2017
Seacoast Online reports on 2 issues plaguing boaters and fishermen in Hampton Harbor, NH.
One is the Neil R. Underwood Memorial Bridge, which failed to lift over the summer for a period of 36 hours due to a mechanical problem, preventing large vessels from entering or leaving the harbor. The state Bureau of Highway Design is scheduled to replace or upgrade the bridge in 2024.
Another fear is that shoaling will soon make the waters unnavigable if dredging is not done. The owners of Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing & Whale Watching said the business lost $25,000 this year because of trips canceled due to shoaling and bridge failure.
