Harp Seal Rescued Near Cape Cod Rotary
February 19, 2016
Cape Cod Times: If you’re a juvenile harp seal, chances are you don’t want to be sliding around near the Orleans Rotary and perilous Route 6. There’s nothing but noise, cars and trouble and, let’s face it, sticking out your flipper and trying to hitchhike isn’t going to work.
And if the seal was a bit unsettled about the situation, imagine the shock of the FedEx driver who noticed the blubbery little fellow near Rock Harbor Road on Tuesday, just off the rotary. The alert driver got the rescue going, notifying staff at nearby Wild Care, an animal rehabilitation center in Eastham.
