Herreshoff Yacht Sales Opens

Herreshof Museum

Herreshoff Yacht Sales (HYS) has officially opened at 18 Burnside Street, in Bristol, Rhode Island. The company is located on the site of the historic Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1878 to 1945 and built famed America’s Cup winners such as Columbia and Reliance. HYS is located on the first floor of the same building as Herreshoff Designs, led by Halsey Herreshoff and Adam Langerman.

HYS specializes in sales of all Herreshoff-designed craft, including those designed by Capt. Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, L. Francis Herreshoff, Sidney Herreshoff and Halsey Herreshoff. HYS also represents builders of Herreshoff designs, including Bristol Boat Companies’ Herreshoff 20, Brion Rieff’s Herreshoff Alerion 26, and Artisan Boatworks’ Herreshoff 12- and 15-footers.

HYS will be steered by Peter K. Sterrett of Tiverton, Rhode Island, a lifelong sailor and former Development Director of the Herreshoff Marine Museum. “I look forward to continuing the legacy of these beautiful and historic yachts by marrying them with the right new owner,” says Sterrett. “I’m also excited to support the fine craftsmanship of our builders.”

Joining Sterrett will be Peter A. Brewster, founder of Brewster Boats, lending his 30 years of brokerage experience to the new venture.
