Huntington, NY, Harbormaster May Create Special Speed Limit Zones

NorthShoreofLongIsland.com: If you’re boating in Huntington waters during a big event, you’d better slow down. The Town Board voted unanimously last Wednesday to establish a 5 mph speed zone during special aquatic events.
Legislation, which was sponsored by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, allows the harbormaster to create a temporary 5 mph speed limit on the water. The exact radius for the speed zone will be different for each event and determined by the harbormaster’s office, senior harbormaster Harry Acker said.
