Hyannis Charter Anglers Cited for Tautog Violations

Massachusetts Environmental Police issued civil citations on Nov. 17 to six anglers who were fishing aboard a charter boat based in Hyannis. The fishermen, all of whom were from out of state, were found to be in possession of 70 tautog, which is 40 fish over the legal bag limit of 5 fish per person. Further, 55 of the fish were under the legal minimum size of 16″.

Officers inspected the anglers’ catch as they were returning to their vehicles.

The catch was seized and destroyed due to safety concerns over the condition of the fish.
