Hyannis Oil Spill Investigated

CapeCodOnline reported on a minor oil spill that occurred in Hyannis Harbor, Massachusetts, on Thursday, Dec. 16. An oily sheen was noticed on the surface of the inner harbor at approximately 3:00 p.m., but no source could be identified.
Both the Hyannis Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard were called to investigate. Apparently, a smell of oil had been noticeable several hours before the sheen was visible.
Officials believe the oil may have been blown inshore by the wind.
