Ill Fisherman Evacuated from Vessel

A Coast Guard rescue crew medically evacuated an ill crewman from a New Bedford, Massachusetts, fishing vessel near Rhode Island Sound, on Thursday, March 31.
Coast Guard Sector Southeast New England watchstanders received a report from the captain of the fishing vessel Independence that a 45-year-old male on board was suffering from stomach pains at approximately 3:05 p.m.
A Coast Guard 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Point Judith launched immediately to aid the ill man.
The man was transported to emergency medical services waiting at the station at 5:00 p.m.
