Kids Get in Free at Mystic Seaport During February Vacation
February 2, 2011
Mystic Seaport will offer 1 free youth admission with every paid adult admission during Liberty Days: February Vacation Week, February 19-27, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The winter promotion offers $15 in savings per youth (ages 6-17) with each purchase of a $24 adult ticket. Children ages 5 and under will receive free admission.
In addition to the museum’s 19th-century seafaring village and exhibit halls, visitors of all ages are invited to create a souvenir silhouette, to climb aboard the whaleship Charles W. Morgan for a special Interpreter-led tour about the families that went to see and to learn through interactive storytelling about local unsung heroes and inventors of Connecticut who have shaped contemporary life. Role-players will share past sailors’ experiences of Liberty Days ashore, and the Treworgy Planetarium will host the free program, “Winter Stars on a Voyage to Freedom,” daily at 2:00 p.m.
Additionally, the Museum’s newest interactive exhibit space, “Pastimes and Playthings,” will feature a variety of hands-on activities including old-fashioned parlor games, tavern puzzles, children’s books and a puppet stage.
