Kingston Shellfishing Hotline Opens
November 28, 2011
Wicked Local Kingston: Shellfishermen have a special telephone number they can call each day they want to go clamming or digging for quahogs to make sure no restriction is in place.
If more than 3/10″ of rainfall is measured, shellfishing is closed for 5 days, and fines can be assessed for failing to adhere to shellfish regulations.
Deputy Shellfish Constable Tom Bolus wants to petition the state to change the rainfall amount to 1/2″ and decrease the number of days closed to shellfishing to 3 days.
To see if the beds are open on a given day, call the recorded message at (781-585-0519) or visit www.kingstonmass.org on the homepage under the “Shellfishing” link. The shellfishing regulations and map are also available on the website.
