Burlington Free Press: The discoloration of a relatively clear-running stream is generally cause for alarm. On Tuesday afternoon [Sept. 25], the rule held in Lewis Creek.

The chemical yellowing of about 10 miles of the stream spelled doom for thousands of immature lamprey in a state and federal campaign to stop the eel-like fish before it can reach adulthood and prey on lake [Champlain] species more favored by anglers.
