Ellsworth American: With the campus now virtually emptied by Christmas vacation, a hiring committee at Maine Maritime Academy spent part of last week interviewing candidates to become the school’s varsity sailing coach.

In August, Tom Brown resigned as sailing coach after 6 years on the job. During that time, he built the school’s offshore sailing team into a formidable force on the collegiate sailing circuit. In 2010, the Mariners were the nation’s intercollegiate offshore sailing champions and represented the United States in the 2011 Student Yachting World Cup in France.
