Maine Ocean Classroom Meets Fundraiser Goal

Knox Vilage Soup: Ocean Classroom’s annual appeal has met its goal, thanks to the help of alumni, friends and Maine residents. The annual appeal provides scholarship funds that enable deserving and needy students to participate in an expeditionary learning program at sea.

The Boothbay Region Lions Club this week gave the Ocean Classroom Foundation a $200 scholarship donation. Last year, 4 local OCF students from the region benefited from Lions Club donations.

The Ocean Classroom Foundation is a nonprofit experiential education organization and managing director Susan Hodder said, “We are grateful to be one of many community causes that benefit from the philanthropy of individuals and organizations like the Lions Club. Donations like these are passed on as financial aid on behalf of the many outstanding local students who are in need of assistance in order to participate in our semester at sea programs.”
