Maine Schooner Fleet May Receive Tax Break

Herald Gazette: The Maine House has given initial approval to a bill that would provide tax relief for the state’s windjammer fleet.
LD 59, sponsored by Rep. Edward Mazurek, D-Rockland, was approved on a voice vote Wednesday, April 6. The bill now goes to the state Senate.
If approved by the Senate and signed by the governor, the bill would authorize sales tax refunds or exemption certificates for purchases of parts and supplies used for the operation, repair or maintenance of a windjammer that is used to carry cargo or passengers for a fee.
