Maine’s Cuckhold’s Light Seeks Two Keepers
August 23, 2012
Maine’s Cuckolds Fog Signal and Light Station is seeking two keepers — partners who are gracious hosts, skilled in hospitality and guest services, adept at building maintenance and repairs, and able mariners.
Keepers will reside on an island off the rock coast of Maine, welcome visitors, and act as guides, hosts, and housekeepers. Guest meals, events, linen service, etc., are catered from the mainland.
The position requires a winning personality, “can-do” maintenance skills and small boat handling ability. The keepers should have a service ethic, an appreciation for maritime tradition, and an ability to make every visitor carry away lasting memories from their experience aboard the historic light station.
The station is situated at the entrance to Boothbay Harbor, a third of a mile offshore, near the southern tip of Southport Island. Keepers will be in residence from mid-April through mid-October.
The position offers residence in a keeper’s quarters on the historic island for six months, a monthly stipend, and an incomparable experience.
Interested parties should include resumes and qualifications, a cover letter explaining why they are interested in this position, and compensation expectations, and e-mail info@CuckoldsLight.org.
