Maine’s Morris Yachts to Build New CG Training Vessels

Herald Gazette: The first of a series of Leadership 44 training vessels is under construction at the Morris Yachts yard in Trenton for the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

Late last week, chief engineer Peter Smith and employees Jake Belhumeur and Sky Winn were inside the mold to start the resin-infusion process along the boat’s centerline, while production manager Stephen Mullane oversaw the process. Observing was Bob Hallock, chairman of the academy’s Leadership 44 procurement committee, which reviewed 12 builders across the nation before selecting Morris, and which raised money to fund the 44s.
