Man Airlifted South of Nantucket

Sept. 9, 2010: Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod has airlifted a man from the motor vessel SCF Polar, 66 miles south of Nantucket, due to possible appendicitis at 6:48 a.m.
Coast Guard Sector Southeastern watchstanders received a report of a man experiencing symptoms of appendicitis aboard the SCF Polar at 2:50 a.m.
The rescue helicopter crew transported the man to Hyannis airport, where local EMS took him to Cape Cod hospital at 7:57 a.m.
