Man Receives Award for 2010 New Bedford Rescue

SouthCoastToday: A Rhode Island chiropractor has been awarded the Carnegie Medal for helping rescue a New Bedford, Massachusetts, woman from drowning in her submerged car in August 2010 near the Popes Island marina.

Dr. John Conley, 55, of Barrington, Rhode Island, said he received a letter Monday from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission notifying him that he was one of 18 nationwide recipients of the medal, which is awarded to people who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree to save others.
