Marshall Point Light Sees Renovations
November 23, 2017
The historic Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde, Maine, (which appeared in the movie Forrest Gump) is receiving a facelift of the light tower’s exterior and the walkway. The light is closed to visitors until work is completed.
The National Historic Landmark, built in 1858 (the original light was built in 1832), sees more than 15,000 visitors between Memorial Day and Columbus Day each year.
The light is owned and maintained by the Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum Committee, and includes a museum in the former lightkeeper’s house.
