Martha’s Vineyard’s Sengekontacket Pond Dredging Under Way

An area of accumulated sand in the center of Sengekontacket Pond on Martha’s Vineyard is being dredged, with the material being used for beach nourishment projects in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The sand removal will help circulate water in the pond and reduce algae blooms.

The project must be completed by January 15.
