Meeting to Plan Future of Historic Schooner
October 29, 2010
SouthCoastToday.com: On Oct. 30, the Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey Association (SEMA) will hold a forum at the New Bedford Whaling Museum to discuss potential future uses of the historic 116-year-old, wooden schooner Ernestina, which is currently docked in New Bedford Harbor near the commercial fishing fleet.
The event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is co-sponsored by the Schooner Ernestina Commission, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. They seek a variety of constituents ready to work together to describe how their ideas for the future of the Ernestina can be organized into a plan to sustain the ship’s restoration and operation.
The Oct. 30 event is free and open to the public. However, pre-registration is required and space is limited.
