Men Stop Runaway Speedboat on Long Island Sound
July 31, 2013
Two members of the Greenwich, Connecticut police force are being credited with stopping a runaway speedboat on Long Island Sound last week, according to an article in the Stamford Advocate.
The cigarette boat flung its two-man crew into the water when it struck the face of a wave. It was then left skipperless, moving 50 miles-per-hour in Long Island Sound and endangering boaters and swimmers.
Greenwich police marine technician Shawn Fox and police officer Frank DiPietro are being credited with stopping the boat, which included DiPietro jumping onto the moving vessel.
