Menemsha Swordfisherman Statue Dismantled

The Martha’s Vineyard Gazette reports that the iconic concrete sculpture called the Swordfish Harpooner, which has stood near the entrance to Menemsha Harbor since 1994, is being dismantled so that it can be refurbished. The statue will be sent to ART Research Enterprises, a foundry in Lancaster, PA, where it will be recast as a new bronze version. The sculptor, Jay Lagemann, will be on hand to oversee the the process.
