Merrimack Jetty Repair Could Begin in October

Newburyport News: The winning bid for fixing the south jetty of the Merrimack River has come in below expectations, which means more work than envisioned can take place and construction might start next month.
Edward O’Donnell, an engineer with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, told members of the Merrimack River Beach Alliance yesterday [September 26] his organization has tentatively accepted a low bid of $2.5 million to shore up the stone jetty that links the river with the ocean.
