Nantucket Scallopers Enjoy Another Good Season
April 16, 2014

According to the Cape and Islands NPR Station, Nantucket bay-scallop fishermen landed 14,500 bushels of scallops during the 5-month season, despite losing numerous days to cold weather and storms. The amount is less than last year, but generally considered a successful harvest and an indicator of a stable population.
The average price ranged from $12-$15 per bushel through most of the season, allowing the scallopers to make anywhere from $300 to $400 per day.
