Netherlands Boatbuilder to Teach Lapstrake Course at Maine School

Maine Built Boats reports that The Apprenticeshop of Rockland, Maine, is planning a 9-day wooden lapstrake boatbuilding course led by internationally renowned craftsman Bert Van Baar of the Netherlands.

Open to novices and professionals alike, the special workshop will run Saturday, July 12, to Sunday, July 20, at The Apprenticeshop‘s waterfront shop.

Students will gain a basic understanding of lofting, joinery and steam-bending.

Total cost of the course is $1,095 per student.
