New Boat: Tiara Q 44 Adventure Yacht
By Tom Richardson on August 25, 2015
Tiara Yachts’ new Q 44 is billed as a go-anywhere, do‐anything “luxury adventure yacht”. The boat is based on the 44 Coupe hull, and offers full walkaround capability and overnight accommodations for 2. The bridge and lounge seats are accessed through port and starboard sliding doors, while socializing is focused around the island-style cockpit galley.
[dropcap]J[/dropcap]ust aft of the galley module, the cockpit opens to a full‐beam swim platform that serves as an enormous water-level deck and offers easy access to the water. Forward, the bow functions as a second entertainment/social area, with safe access, comfortable lounges and roomy hullside storage. Mediterranean sun shades fore and aft are available.
The boat comes with a simple yet elegant cabin with queen berth, along with a pantry-style galley equipped with a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. Hardwoods, architectural finishes and modern fabrics add to the luxury below.
A “cellar” to the port side of the bridge deck can hold an enormous amount of gear and supports the adventure side of the yacht’s purpose. Additionally, the hardtop can be used to hold SUPs, kayaks, bicycles and surfboards.
The Q 44 can be powered by Volvo Penta IPS 600 (435 hp) drives or Cummins diesel inboards. Joystick docking is standard with the first option. Performance is expected to be similar to the 44 Coupe, which offers a cruise of 26 to 31 mph and a top end of 36 mph with the pod drives.
