New England Boating TV Preview: Salem, MA; December 9
December 6, 2013

Don’t miss the next episode of New England Boating TV (December 9, 7:30 p.m.) in which Parker and Tom visit Salem, Massachusetts. This historic port once served as the trading capital of the U.S., receiving goods from all over the world, and is the birthplace of writer Nathaniel Hawthorne. The show examines the city’s past, as well as the many benefits it offers modern mariners.

Stops along the way include the Peabody Essex Museum, the House of the Seven Gables, and a dock-and-dine lunch at Finz restaurant. Parker and Tom also make their own Gyotaku fish prints, courtesy of Joe Higgins at Joe’s Fresh Fish Prints & Tomo’s Tackle on Pickering Wharf.
Of course, there’s lots of boating, too, including some striper fishing with live mackerel and a tour of the harbor. The crew also checks in with the folks at Brewer Hawthorne Cove to discuss their services and transient options.
