New Stuff: Icom M93D Handheld VHF
December 12, 2016
Icom has introduced the M93D handheld VHF radio, successor to the popular M92D. The new handheld features active noise-canceling, a dedicated built-in DSC receiver, and internal GPS. It also features Icom’s new flat-sheet keypad, making it not only slim, but providing a “positive click” feel during operation. Other offerings include a built-in compass and navigation functions.
The radio’s big 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery provides 9-plus hours of battery life for reliable all-day operation, and a 12-volt adapter comes standard.
The M93D also boasts Icom’s exclusive Float ‘n Flash and AquaQuake technology. Should the radio be dropped overboard, a flashing light will activate, making it easier to locate. The Float ʻn Flash feature works even when the power is turned off. Meanwhile, the AquaQuake
draining function uses low-frequency sound waves to clear water from the speaker grill for clearer audio.
Additional features include a 2.3” full dot matrix, high-contrast display; IPX7 waterproof rating; 50-waypoint memories with alphanumeric names for Navigation and a loud BTL 900 mW speaker.
