New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup Starts Today

Sailing teams from around the globe have traveled to Newport, Rhode Island, for the New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex. Throughout this week, the teams will race in the second edition of the international competition.

NYYC’S Harbor Court will host 22 yacht club teams, representing 16 nations from 6 different continents. Eleven races on NYYC Swan 42s will be sailed on Rhode Island Sound and Narragansett Bay.

The event runs from Tuesday, September 13 to Saturday, September 17. Competitors leave the docks at New York Yacht Club at approximately 9:30 a.m. in preparation for an 11:00 a.m. race start

On Saturday, September 17, the final day of competition will start at 9:00 a.m. with the Parade of Nations as the fleet takes a lap around Newport Harbor before heading out to the race course.

Best vantage points for spectators and shore side shots as the fleet head to the race course are Fort Adams and Castle Hill.
