TheHour.com: From the stoic stone beacon to a whimsical candy-filled bubble creation, 22 interpretations of the lighthouse are on display at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s 11th annual Festival of Lighthouses in what organizers described as an increasingly competitive contest for votes and a $1,500 grand prize.
“Several entrants this year have told us that they’ve enjoyed viewing the lighthouse exhibits in the past and wanted to take a crack at making one themselves,” Aquarium Marketing Director Chris Loynd said. “But we also have 9 entrants—more than 1/3 of the total—who are returning veterans, some of them for several years in a row. It’s become very competitive.”
