Hampton-NorthHamptonPatch: Crews were are able to remove a sunken excavator from Hampton Harbor Wednesday morning one day after last-minute complications delayed both the machinery’s removal and the reopening of the commercial port.

The excavator had fallen off a barge late Thursday after the barge started to take on water, listed and struck part of the Neil Underwood Memorial Bridge while operators attempted to beach the barge to prevent it from sinking.
