Environmental activists carrying signs and members of the Friends of Penobscot Bay took to the Penobscot Bay shoreline in Searsport, Maine, this week, claiming GAC Chemical Corp.’s nearby property is eroding and leaking industrial waste into the bay, according to an article in the Bangor Daily News.

However, Jessamine Logan of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection said that GAC Chemical Corp. is in compliance with her agency and that the corporation’s permits and licenses are all current.
