A recent Boston Globe article explores the relationship between Nantucket sport fishermen and the growing population of seals on and around the island.
From surfcasters to charter skippers, all have been affected by seals either stealing their fish off the line or pushing the game fish farther offshore. Many say it’s impossible to catch fish from shore in many spots around the island because of the seals. The writer interviews several fishermen and charter captains, as well as biologists and environmental advocates about what can be done to solve the problem.
