A U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee bill would shut down NOAA’s Northeast Regional Headquarters in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and fold its jobs and operations into smaller community-based offices across the region, according to an article in the Gloucester Times.
The bill also provides $150 million in disaster aid to fishermen around the country and requires NOAA to charter fishermen’s boats for cooperatives stock assessment research.
