Stonington Patch: Thursday morning started off like any other day in Stonington Borough. Locals gathered at the Yellow House Coffee & Tea Room for their morning coffee and gossip, residents headed off to work and then just before 10:30 a.m. there was a lot of smoke coming from Dodson Boatyard.
“I was at the Velvet Mill and could see the smoke from there,” Wendy Fox van Breems said. “I drove over and watched the fire from Cutler Street. I did hear one small explosion most likely a propane tank on board one of the boats. But the flames were huge and black.”
