Block Island Times: Over the past month, a small crew of island paddleboarders has been trying to hold the Montauk to Block Island paddleboard race that raises money for local causes, but the weather has not cooperated.

The 18-mile journey calls for the right winds and tides, and they haven’t come together. So the crew has given up on the race, and with thanks to sponsors, wants them to know that any money donated so far will be passed on to the B.I. Fire Department and Rescue Squad, for whom it was raised in the first place.
