Members of Block Island’s Shellfish Commission and Harbors Department “reseeded” the island’s Cormorant Cove with young softshell clams on July 22 , according to an article in the Block Island Times.
The steamers, about 40,000 in all, will grow to about 3-and-a-half inches long, but they were barely larger than a kidney bean when members spread them over a plot of freshly-raked soil.
