Newburyport News: The [Newburyport, Massachusetts] Open Space Committee is exploring a possible state funding opportunity to replace the boat launch and install parking on land off Ferry Lane near the Merrimack River.
Chairman Steve Greason gave voters at a Special Town Meeting last week an update on the issues the land use board has been tackling this past year, including the boat launch project. The state will cover the project costs, but would require the town to assume maintenance costs for the boat launch that would be “absolutely minimal,” Greason said. The work should take 2 to 3 years to complete.
