By now many of you have no doubt noticed that the BoatingLocal URL and logo has quite suddenly morphed into NewEnglandBoating.com. An explanation is in order.
About a month ago, BoatingLocal was sold to Lighthouse Media Solutions, publisher of the recently launched New England Boating Magazine, which debuted last February. I was hired as the magazine’s editor, while BoatingLocal served as the publication’s website of record. The combination worked so well that the companies decided to join forces in early May.
To avoid confusion between the two brands, we decided to place both under the New England Boating umbrella, which made the most sense given the shared regional focus. In the meantime, another very exciting development has occurred: In the last month, Lighthouse has announced the launch of a new television series, also to be called New England Boating. The show will follow the magazine’s and website’s regional destination and lifestyle-based approach. Co-hosts Parker Kelley and yours truly will travel to different parts of New England each week, exploring its varied salt- and freshwater ports of call. We’ll provide information on some of the things you need to know as a boater when visiting these places, as well as a taste of the shoreside attractions. Look for New England Boating TV on NESN at 7:00 p.m., Mondays, beginning July 1.
So there you have it: three ways to celebrate and explore the waters of New England, and they’re all named New England Boating. Pretty simple, really.
