Concerned that ferry service between Bristol, Rhode Island, and Prudence Island could be interrupted later this year, Bristol officials have filed a motion to intervene in a ferry application hearing for A & R Marine, according to an article on EastBayRI.com.

Town officials filed the motion Wednesday (October 23, 2013), citing “real property interest at stake,” and that users of the ferry shop and park in downtown Bristol. The current owner of the Prudence Island Ferry, Bruce Medley, leases the Prudence Island Ferry dock from the town. But with concerns that ferry service could be interrupted, the town has stated it would be willing to enter a lease for the dock with a viable ferry operator.
