Anyone wanting to fight the cold of winter with warm bowls of chowder will be in luck this Saturday, February 22 (2014) in Mystic, Connecticut.
Olde Mistick Village will hold its 11th annual Cabin Fever Festival, featuring a charity chowder cook-off. Tastes will be sold for $1 for a 3-ounce serving, or you can purchase 12 tickets for $10. All proceeds support the Emergency Food Pantry at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center.
Twenty-four of the area’s finest restaurants and caterers will compete for top awards for best chowder. In addition to the three top People’s Choice awards, a team of media celebrities (Rick Koster, Dave Tranchida, and Elissa Bass) will be judging three additional categories of 1) Most Creative Chowder; 2) Heartiest Chowder; and 3) Best Use of Regional Ingredients.
