Country music superstar Trace Adkins came to Chatham, Massachusetts, this past summer on his “Songs and Stories” tour and filmed an episode of Great American Heroes featuring the Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association‘s CEO John Pappalardo, Orleans lobsterman Kurt Martin (fishing vessel Time Bandit), Wellfleet scalloper Jesse Rose (f/v Midnight Our), Chatham fisherman John Our (f/v Miss Fitz), Andy Baler of Chatham Pier Fish Market and Cate O’Keefe, program manager of SMAST’s Marine Fisheries Field Research Group.
The episode airs next Wednesday, November 7, at 8:00 p.m. and re-airs on Sunday, November 11, also at 8:00 p.m. The show is on Great American Country on the following Cape Cod channels: Comcast Corporation channel #279, DIRECTV channel #326 or DISH Network channel #165.
Great American Heroes pays tribute to ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their local communities. We were honored that they chose to feature John’s close work with fishermen over many years, stating: “The Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association fights to protect the traditions and resources of Cape Cod fishermen. It’s about keeping the ecosystem healthy, boats on the water and money in the fishermen’s pockets.”
“A lot of people get attention for the wrong reasons but the true measure of a hero is serving others. On Great American Heroes, I will introduce the real people who fit that bill,” said Adkins. “They devote themselves to others and deserve all the applause we can give them. These heroes will inspire you, make your heart swell and your eyes tear up. This show does more than tell some good stories, it affirms our faith in others.”
